Discounted & Bulk-Billed Consultations

  • Aged Pension Card Holders: Consultations are bulk-billed.
  • DVA Gold Card Holders: Consultation fees are billed directly to the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA).
  • WorkCover Patients: No out-of-pocket costs for consultations or surgery.

Surgical Fees (Private Health Insurance Patients)

No out-of-pocket costs. The health fund is billed directly.

General Surgery

  • Common procedures (e.g., gallbladder removal, hernia repairs) are charged as "Known-Gap" with a $500 out-of-pocket fee payable before surgery. The health fund covers the remaining costs.
  • More complex procedures (e.g., incisional or recurrent hernia repairs) follow Australian Medical Association (AMA) rates. A rebate can be claimed from your health fund.

Sleeve Gastrectomy

  • Private Health Insurance: $4,900 (Care Program Cost). In-hospital fees billed to your health fund.
  • Self-Funded Patients (Without Health Fund Cover): $6,500 (Care Program Cost). Hospital fees approx. $10,500.

Gastric Bypass

  • Primary Gastric Bypass: $5,900 (Care Program Cost). Hospital fees typically covered by health funds.
  • Self-Funded Patients (Without Health Fund Cover): Recommended to join a health fund.

Revisional Gastric Bypass

  • Private Health Insurance: $6,900 (Care Program Cost). Hospital fees typically covered.

Gastric Band Removal

  • Private Health Insurance: Fees follow AMA schedule. Rebates available. Item number: 31585.

Early Release of Superannuation for Obestiy Surgery

Some patients choose to access their superannuation to cover obesity surgery costs. Before applying, consult your accountant or financial adviser.

Application process:

  • Requires forms from your GP, our clinic, and yourself.
  • Takes approximately 4–6 weeks for fund release.

Bariatric Surgery in Campbelltown Public Hospital

  • We now have a public bariatric surgery pathway for our local area.
  • The program is managed by the Metabolic Clinic in Camden, not through our practice.
  • Qualifying patients are referred for publicly funded bariatric surgery after completing the metabolic clinic program.
  • Speak to your GP for a referral to the metabolic clinic.
